MORU Retreats - Budget and Schedule
To the Sacred Authority Adidam,
Please accept this plan for public retreats at the Man of Radical Understanding retreat facility at the Mountain of Attention Sanctuary.
Schedule -
Quarterly retreats at the Man of Radical Understanding will begin in February 2017, where we will hold our first, beta-test retreat. In April, we will formally begin monthly retreats open to seriously interested public and devotees.
Team -
Steven Shapiro has agreed to be the retreat manager for public retreats. He will be assisted by Timothy Toye, Theo Cedar Jones and Mike Waters, who will help with marketing and promotion, planning meetings and facilities preparation.
Rates -
The retreat program will happen one week-end a month from Friday evening to Sunday evening, including two nights sleeping in retreat quarters, as well as organic, raw/vegan meals (for an additional $25 per day). We will accomodate a maximum of 8 retreatants per month, at the rate of $250 per retreatant. We will conduct 12 retreats per year.
This could generate $2,000 per month, and $24,000 per year.
Costs -
We will invest $1,000 in facilities improvements to the Man of Radical Understanding faicilities to restore some of the bunk beds, cleaning, painting, etc.
Management -
We will conduct regular webinar-based meetings to handle all matters of facilities improvement, cleaning, food catering, marketing, recruiting, enrolling, organizing, accounting, reporting, etc.
Marketing and Promotion -
We will work closely with all of the Mission managers to reach everyone who is on their path of approach to Bhagavan, and invite them to go on retreat at MORU. The retreats will act as a crucial and attractive next-step for people on their path of approach, that will also provide energy and motivation for the servers of the Mission.
We will initially focus on recruiting retreatants from the Bay Area and Northern California, due to their proximity to the Sanctuary. Theo has communicated with Bay Area Mission manager Eric Kantor, to ask for his help to find people to go on retreats.
We will also promote the retreats to the growing numbers of people on regional Adidam websites on facebook.
Sacred Authority and access for retreatants to the main Sanctuary-
Access to the main Sanctuary at the Mountain of Attention for each retreatant will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Sacred Authority of Adidam. It is our perpetual commitment that the retreat process honor and support the Sacred Authority of Adidam. Therefore, we cannot guarantee or advertise that retreatants will be granted access to the main Sanctuary. However, that possibility remains open depending on the discretion of the RSO, and is therefore an aspiration and an attraction for retreatants.
And retreatants WILL be guaranteed access to the Meditation Hall at MORU which was empowered by Adi Da Himself, as well as to the Sacred Camel Gardens.
Sanctuary Yajna - Depending on approval from the Samrajya, retreatants will be able to go on a guided yajna of certain parts of the Mountain of Attention Sanctuary, including Landbridge Pavillion and Fresh Milk, at the conclusion of each retreat.
Upgrading Facilities - Some service and money will be required to bring the retreat facilities fully on-line.
Catering - Organic raw/vegan meals will be provided by a private catering service.
Teachers- There is a full staff of qualified teachers at every retreat, offering a rich program of Adi Da's Wisdom.
Retreat Programming - We will cooperate with the Adi Da Foundation to provide rich and attractive retreat programming, including chanting and sacred offerings by live musicians, leelas of devotion to Adi Da Samraj, projections and fabrications of Adi Da's Image Art, mini-enactments from the Orpheum Trilogy by members of the Sacred Theatre Guild, and high-definition slideshows and video Darshans of Adi Da Samraj. Visits to the Sacred Camel Gardens may also be possible.
Service - Retreatants will be allowed to do some limited service in or around the retreat facilities.
Getting people on the vow track - We will organize the service necessary to follow-up with every person who comes on retreat, to make sure that they are on track to take the
Eternal Vow of Devotion to Adi Da, and are fully served through courses, service opportunities and further retreats.
Crowdfunding campaigns - We will conduct various crowdfunding campaigns to make all necessary improvements to the Man of Radical Understanding facilities and surrounding areas.
Conclusion - The presence of a publicly available Meditation Hall that was personally empowered by Adi Da Samraj is the first "Inner Temple" destination and point of attraction for retreatants at MORU. Retreatants will also enjoy the land where Adi Da Himself sat and worked with the Sacred Theatre Guild in the Orpheum Tent. Our juicy and attractive program will include rare approved showings of Adi Da's Image Art, and mini-enactments from the Orpheum Trilogy. Retreatants will be drawn fully into the Pleasure Dome environment of
Adi Da's Person and Presence for 48 hours. This immersion in Adi Da's Company will enable a steady stream of new people to come under vow, and bring new life and expansion to the gathering of devotees.
In devotion and service,
Timothy Toye, Steven Shapiro, Theo Cedar Jones, and Mike Waters.
